Passenger Trains > Crescent 20(3) mystery

Reported by official Amtrak alerts: "Crescent Train 20 which departed New Orleans (NOL) on 7/3 is stopped south of Anniston (ATN) due to a disabled freight train ahead. We will update as more information becomes available."

Amtrak 20(3) stopped south of Anniston account "stalled NS train" ahead. Passengers were taken back to their originating stations. Don't know of any explanation, more details about the NS issue would help but I don't have them.

Status shows a departure from BHM but no further OS beyond. Train was stopped at Moody 353pm-437pm, with one last trace north of Anniston at 631pm which is suspicious and probably spurious. Train arrived back at NOL around 430am. 19(2) looks to have have gotten thru before the NS foulup and arrived NOL so there would have been TWO trainsets in NOL this morning, until 20(4) departed on time. 19(3) is on time near the GA/AL border. So there may be two sets in NOL again tonight.

Did Amtrak use a caboose as a shoving platform to take the train back to New Orleans?

Two Crescent trainsets are currently in New Orleans, so 19(5) is cancelled.

And a make up can not be made ?

Not much effort is being givern these days.

Geezus Gene, they should have made the passengers get out and push the freight to the first available siding, that way no one on the other end would be put out by having to make up anpother train.
