Lipinski on Amtrak negligence, per Ross Capon
Author: GenePoon

from Ross Capon, in a private discussion:

"The other point Lipinski made is that the HEROES Act (which provided about $1.13 trillion of emergency supplemental appropriations to federal and public agencies, as well as economic assistance to governments at the state, local, tribal, and territorial levels) did not include Amtrak because Amtrak did not submit its supplemental request until 10 days after passage of the Act."

Why is this surprising.....Amtrak doesn't really have a good history of showing up early now does it?

Or were they deliberately late so they could carry out their pre-ordained agenda.

Long after many conspiricy theories were dismissed as such, they were proved to have been accurate.

Chance that you are correct - pretty good.

From a retiree who has faded away from most coworkers memories in in the last few years.. Soured by the whole experience after coming from a proud RR family. To see passenger service fall so deep being more and more managed by white collar criminals. He saw the end coming, but I bet he didn't expect the sucker punch would be a drink of bat broth. Warned me years ago, I still remember his words and thank him to this day he got me focused. Something he sent me follows:

Amtrak is a Greek word that means "Band of Liars, Thieves and Drunks." It was created by a Criminal Organization (govt), and is the domain of defective railroad business amateurs. Stalin knew how to deal with these kinds of fascist pigs and cleaned them out by the millions. The Logo was stolen and modified from the wireless vendor Sprint. God help all who work for these criminals!

Not just passenger service, rail service in general.

HEROES never passed the Senate, so there wasn't any money to lose.

Amtrak didn't know that when they slipped the deadline.

Joe McHugh moved from VP Govt Affairs to VP State Supported Services in 2017, not sure who is left over in Govt Affairs. Back in PRIIA, Joe made a trip to the midwest and subsequently demanded the stop at Hamilton, OH be removed after visiting it. Thought it was shabby. I guess he didn't see the bigger picture, it was the link to the Dayton, OH traffic... It was a small nail, be a sign of things to come. He had a kid attending some local university was the only reason for the trip... Stop was at the CH&D Depot, still standing last I heard.

Remember guys, it was created to fail and I know back in 73 they were already making plans on dismantling Amrak until the Energy Crisis showed up, now it might be a possibiliy even though Flynn still claims the 3 days a week run is temporary!
