Lake Shore Woes...Boston section
Author: GenePoon

Lake Shore Limited 49(13) is delayed due to issues with the Boston section.

449(13) with the AMTK 124 and four cars (sleeper, dinette, two coaches) was 1:25 late out of Boston (mechanical). It lost another two-plus hours prior to Worcester. A fire broke out, report is that it was in sleeper 62045, and that all the other cars would probably not continue past Rensselaer. 449 arrived Rensselaer 3:25 late, 49 departed 2:45 late, consist not reported.

Departed Toledo just before 8:30 a.m., which made it about 2 hours late there.

Not bad, actually. Maybe somebody can catch it on webcam at Elkhart or Chesterton to see if the cars from 449 got cleaned up and added to 49 anyway. I'll be unavailable.

Heard #49 report 48 axles by the DED at Solvay, NY (10 cars).  On the 11th #49 had 52 axles, so he must have lost one car in Albany-Rensselaer.

Gee, Boston only had 48 HOURS to get the train ready.  Three days per week, and the still cannot get equipment ready for an on-time departure.

When they don't get to work on it until the same few hours before departure....

NOTHING ever changes at Amtrak.
