Passenger Trains > AMTK #638 leads Pennsylvanian EB through Metuchen at Sunset

Random shot of Amtrak's Pennsylvanian (Train No. 42), eastbound, Saturday evening just after 4 pm.

Shadows make shooting westbounds near impossible much
past early afternoon.  Seems best "over your shoulder" lighting on the NEC occurs
ironically, around Noon.  But... that was not what I was primarily after!

Not so sure that's a Regional.  Isn't that a baggage car on the rear?

Longer than the typical Pennsylvanian, but could be.  Palmetto or Carolinian are the other possibilities.

It is indeed the Pennsylvanian - train number 42.

Thanks for the correction - should've known with
the baggage car, just read the schedule wrong.
Those blue and gray bars on Amtrak's app can
sometimes be a little confusing!

NCDOT and Amtrak restored the Carolinian on June 1, however, the baggage service on the train remains suspended.

Yeah - this is a bit of a weird consist, there appears to be an Amfleet cafe behind the motor, and then also ANOTHER second from the rear, with another Amfleet coach ahead of the baggage car. The Amfleet I's were often used for short runs or corridor portion (Harrisburg-Philly-NYP). The Amfleet II's are normal for the run west of Harrisburg. The business class car was typically an Amfleet I low density coach. Used to be half of the cafe car, but they replaced it with a low density coach few years back now. Anyway, why the extra "cars" it seems - not sure. But there definitely appears to be extra cars in the consist! 

Not sure if this train still flips with the Palmetto or not any more now (this was the norm for a while, but then I thnk Amtrak stopped doing that), especailly since the Palmetto is running just 3x per week.
