Passenger Trains > Amtk 145 Heritage: on Train 43 today Sat 1/2??

GE Genesis Locomotive 145 (the 40th Anniversary diesel) came east to PHL from PGH with Train 42, the Pennsylvanian, yesterday 2021-01-01.

Would someone kindly confirm if 145 is going west from PHL today, Saturday, with Train 43?

I'd like to photograph it in action today, and I must leave the house by 11:05AM E.S.T. to do so. Won't have internet on the road. Replies prior to that time will be very helpful to me - thanks in advance to any who can help prevent a long wasted trip in gloomy weather!

(I don't expect 145 to stay around very long in PHL's diesel pool for Tr. 42/43, but I'd love to be proven wrong about that.)

Not a confirmation, but in the past it has stayed with train 42/43 for a couple weeks at a time alternating days to and out of Philly.

Given that train 43 isn't due into Philadelphia until 12:15p, I think your request for definite confirmation of AMTK145's presence on it an hour before then stood a very poor chance of being satisfied.

I think anthracite was hoping that someone on TO would have insider information about the locomotive to be assigned to Train 43 for its trek west of Philadelphia.

Stipulated, and why I didn't say he had a 0 chance. But even then, assignments can change at the last minute because of a clogged toilet or malfunctioning cab signals or whatever. Sometimes if you want something so bad that you need to drive three hours to get it, you pays yer money and you takes yer chance.

For anyone who is wondering, per a a siting posted on HeritageUnits.com, 145 is in Philadelphia this afternoon and not on the point of today’s westbound Pennsylvanian.

It didn't get all the way to Harrisburg with an electric, did it?

Yes, Amtrak #43 was spotted through Wynnewood with motor #668 to Harrisburg.

Interesting. I wasn't aware they kept a spare diesel at Harrisburg, but I presume they must have had one there today if they expected the train to get to Pittsburgh.

According to the Train Status function on Amtrak's website, today's 43 arrived Harrisburg six minutes early, but departed 26 minutes late for a stop which is scheduled for ten minutes.

145 is shopped at Race Street with PTC problems.  Not expected to run till sometime next week.

Ah, the answer to the poor man's question !   And thanks for the info, as I'm near Philly and was wondering if a trip trackside to catch this loco was warranted.  Now I know to sit tight for a little.
