Very appropriate. We can speculate if it will be Acela, Amfleet, or the Georgia Business car. 

Will Amtrak need engine #46?  But maybe they better prep #47 just in case.   Sure is better than a motorcade down I-95 to DC.

#46 is in the Grove. Getting spruced up ??

#47 was involved in a very bad accident and was severely damaged.

It would be cool if they borrowed the steam locomotive from the Strasburg Railroad
and a couple of their coaches for that trip! :-)

Yeah I'm going to pretend thats not even here since the run will occur south of Philly.
 

Looking on what just happened at the Capitol, why in the world would they let the
news out on how Biden is traveling to DC. That should of been under wraps until
departure time.

Just the image Amtrak needs to portray! An old steam engine!

Time to show off a new Acela! If they're permitted to run in revenue service yet? If not, perhaps one of the new Viewliners.

I saw the Biden and Obama train leave Wilmington in 2009.  While it was great to see a rail journey for a historic moment back then, I think that now security concerns are too great for this too happen in 2021.  Very sad indeed.

President Abraham Lincoln passed through Paradise on his way from Illinois to his innaugural.  His funeral train passed Paradise four year later.

Perhaps similar to Obama train in 2009.

Agreed. That worries me too - hope they really beef up security for that trip and that nothing goes awry :-/

Certain to run a pilot train in front of the real thing.  And hoping we don't have another Elizabeth, NJ like the RFK funeral train.

Very certain. I won't say what I have seen first hand but the Secret Service takes their job very seriously.

Very unlikely. There should be an all stop preventing any other train from moving and that is likely to be in place long before the trains pass.
4141 managed to run without incident through Texas. The Biden whistlestop from Cleveland ran without incident prior to the electiion. Railroads have learned a lot about keeping the public safe for special movements. The railfan clipped by the steam train in the past couple of years is an unfortunate exception to the safety of special runs.
