Those new units sure are ugly.  I guess there's no hope of ever seeing anything like the old E's and PA's anymore.  Too bad.

In a way, I'm kind of surprised no one has come up with something like that.  With the retro look being very popular these days, hopefully it will happen. Since Progress Rail owns all the rights to anything EMD, I'm surprised they didn't.  Too bad passenger power is such a niche market.  I would love to see a 21st Century retro look E Unit powering a Metra commuter train on the former CB&Q racetrack.

Could you make a E Unit or PA design that would meet the current crash standards?
Because it seems that no one else can so far.

If the Chargers with no front end protection meets today's crash standards, I'm sure a retro look PA with its elongated front end or a retro look E unit with that famous Bulldog nose could easily be built to current crash standards.
