Passenger Trains > Biden train unit on 50(12)

Assigned to the POTUS #46 special and freshly painted with "Connecting America for 50 Years," AMTK 46 departed Beech Grove last night and is on its way East on Train 50(12).

Wouldn't it be nice if us futile serfs could get clean equipment? Rock Island cars in the early 70s looked cleaner than most Amtrak equipment. A cab car the other day had a layer of filth on the windows so thick I think you could grow crops on it.

A quickie renumbering to 47 may be necessary depending on what Congress does over the next week. And conveniently/sadly that roster number is already available.

I have gotten clean equipment many times on Amtrak.  There are times when I have gotten equipment with dirty windows, but not as bad being able to grow crops on them!!!

One time I had a roomette on the lower level on 28.  I got off in Pasco to have a go at cleaning the window with a damp towel from my room.   The SCA saw what I was doing, jumped back on the train, grapped a spray bottle of cleaning solution and a towel and cleaned my window for me.  Then was surprised when he got a tip!!!

Why didn't they repaint that engine in the correct scheme, the same as the new cars and baggage cars?  Shame on them, this has always been a lousy scheme.

I guess Amtrak is taking no chance for a delay by assigning a Diesel Unit on an electified route.  Never know when the catenary will be pulled down.  Good for them for having this redundancy.

Here is a video of #50(12), including AMTK 46, through Waynesboro, VA today, With all that horsepower on the front end, it was ten minutes early into Staunton, VA!

They used unit 44 and 120 on the 2009 Innaugural Run.  

Not going to happen according to CNN.

I think the idea is that the Cheeroh in chief will resign, allowing VP Pence to become President for a day or two. This would bump president #46 to #47.

That would allow President Pence to issue a full pardon to Donald Trump.  Few constitutional scholars believe a self-pardon for federal crimes would work.

Wow, did not even think about that option. Given Mr. President's pride and ego, I'm not sure if he'd be willing to resign.

Is the Connecting America logo a mylar wrap or is it real paint?  Looks like great advertising.

 

Nice paint scheme, but if it wasn't for the train offs in 79, 95, and 97 besides the dining car services close to extinct and all that Id be a lot happier looking forward to Amrak's 50TH!

So the train offs in 1981, 1985 & 2005 don't bother you?
