Passenger Trains > 383(15) cancelled for one reason or another

Amtrak 383(15) Illinois Zephyr was cancelled account weather but it might not have gone anyway. It was assigned Charger IDTX 4605 which was reported by yard crew to have heavy smoke in the engine room at 1645CT. It was pushed aside by itself for inspection but BNSF shut down the railroad before anyone could do anything.

Yup, Gene, Mendota Sub's very notorious for drifting.   This was a sound OP decision in light of the extreme cold and snow-- good on BNSF!

Remember that one evening, Trains 4, 6 and the Illinois Zephyr all got snowbound in the Mendota-Princeton area, a few years ago.
