Amtrak #6 on train #6 OS Elmira, CA at 1021A today

Right on time as Amtrak #6 with P-42 #6 highballs Elmira, CA this morning.  Had an almost full sleeper count on #5 yesterday-- hopefully they sold well today, too.

Why isn't Amtrak running the not-quite-new CAF bags on the Western trains?  Do they still accept check baggage?  Or are they just using the space in the coach-bags account of the low ridership due to the pandemic?

Checked baggage still accepted.  Pandemic reduced ridership and checked baggage allows Coach-Baggage cars to handle what there is.

Yes, northern California has been VERY dry this winter.  But hope springs eternal, and the forecast is for goodly rain (and snow in the mountains) later this week.
