Passenger Trains > Sunset Disruption todayDate: 09/13/21 15:18 Sunset Disruption today Author: Hou74-76 This morning I was surprised to see the Train #1 (13) depart New Orleans. I would have thought that Amtrak would have cancelled (out of an abundance of caution) the train in light of tropical storm Nicholas. Sure enough, it looks like the train is in disruption at Beaumont, TX. I have seen no "official" Tweets or service Bulletins but Amtrak live map shows it disrupted.

The train will detour between Houston and San Antonio over a different route but will not miss any stops. It looks like they'll be detouring Rosenberg to Sealy on the BNSF, then via La Grange, Smithville, Lockhart, and San Marcos on the UP where it'll join the Eagle's route and head south to San Antonio that way and back into the station.

A detour is better than an annulment. Good to hear the people in charge were able to make this happen.
