I don't think so....Viewliner diners appear in several of the promos.  Plus, they are funded and directed to restore dining service in the infrastructure bill, so why not publicize it as if it was their own initiative?  They've been saying options to improve Eastern dining were under consideration ever since Western services were restored.

While I want that to be true, there are many news stories that came out today, like this one:

Pretty sure the hype was for the black Friday Amtrak sale and nothing more.

Something big huh? I bet it's the excitement on their corridor plan finally coming to fruition and gonna do their hardest to find ways to dismantle the LD Network!

Amtrak's big teaser is for the announcement that they have arranged with all purveyors of dictionaries to change the spelling of dining cars to dinningcars.
Everyone is proud that one keystroke is eliminated by deleting the space between dinning and car.

You misspelled "dining", Crusader.

I think that the big announcement is below. It's sad that Amtrak couldn't have come up with a "sale" - in some way - that could have been applied across the Amtrak system and not just limited to the NEC. I understand that for certain State corridors/trains it may proven difficult to offer a universal/uniform sale on, but even if there had been a campaign of some sort that was applied to the National and NEC operated trains.....This is of course is being used for first quarter 2022 to drum up sales in Amtrak's slowest quarter (credit given for smart timing at least!)..........

From Amtrak's Media Center:

"Buy one ticket and bring a friend for free for travel throughout the Northeast from Brunswick, Maine, to Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., and through Virginia. Customers can purchase tickets beginning on Friday, Nov. 26, through Monday, Nov. 29.........The limited-time sale is valid for travel between Jan. 4, 2022, and April 30, 2022 in Coach on select trains traveling in the Northeast and Acela Business Class."

In the near 20 bullet points of Terms & Conditions, its mentioned you can purchase segments aboard the LD trains (e.g. Cardinal, Silver Service trains, etc.) but only for travel that is:

• Valid between Brunswick, ME and Roanoke, Newport News and Norfolk, VA

At one time, there was a reason as to why LD trains were excluded from bookings on the NEC..........

Good deal for those in the Northeast! Once again, Amtrak forgets that they are mandated to operate a National system.....

The reason they didn’t provide a Black Friday buy one/get one free sale on LD services is in another month there won’t be a seat to get for free, there will be about 3/7 of the available seats actually… triweekly is coming for most LD routes, why give away seats for free when they will be cut anyway?

Amtrak needed to be more "worldly" in such an advertising launch.......Yes, they concentrated on their highest patronized area, but this is the systematic problem of Amtrak in the arena for which it plays in.........They just never learn!
