Thought you might guess, but I'm saying 59 MPH again! Over an hour late at BTL..

(Update 1) And late trains get later, 352 was over an hour late at ARB and over 2 hours late next station at DER.

(Update 2) 354 just waited at Comstock to meet the late 355 (running 59 MPH) for addition decay of 10 mins. So that 110 MPH east of KAL that the state paid for didn't help either train..

Is it news or even interesting if it's a daily occurrence?

This consistency of failure are the point of these posts.

October 23, 2020

YPSILANTI, MI – Today, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (D-MI) announced the US Department of Transportation is awarding $15,570,327 to the Michigan Department of Transportation to improve rail infrastructure including replace 80,000 feet of rail, rehab 42 horizontal curves, and make safety enhancements at 16 public and 8 private at-grade crossings on state-owned rail corridor between Ypsilanti and Jackson, MI.

If it was private money, I would have zero interest. Tax Payer Money, B I N G O!

(Update)

May 17th, 2021 Amtrak announced Monday it will increase the maximum speed of its trains along a 45-mile stretch between Kalamazoo and Albion....
Accelerated speeds between Kalamazoo and Albion will be effective May 25 and follow infrastructure improvements and testing. This is another phase of accelerated speed increases for Amtrak along the Detroit/Pontiac-Chicago corridor. The train service can run at up to 110 miles per hour on an Amtrak-owned track between Porter, Ind., and Kalamazoo.

"This expansion of 110 mph service is a major milestone in developing one of the high-performance 'spokes' of our Amtrak Midwest hub, centered in Chicago," said Joe Shacter, Amtrak senior manager for the state-sponsored corridors.

355 got 354 real good tonight, total delay was over 40 mins... Moved from the winner category to looser category after that meet! Amtrak delaying Amtrak, who would have thought!

Whats the point of these improvements if they can't get the system to operate at posted track speeds?

Interesting to note that in the 40s, joint PRR/Wabash Chicago to Detroit trains via Ft. Wayne ran between the two cities in 4 hours, 45 minutes. NYC/Michigan Central route was 5 hours flat with steam powered trains 80+ years ago. Ahhhh progress...

In the voice of Mr. Fred Rogers(With apologies)

“Can you say political grandstanding? I knew you could…”

So much more opportunities to be on TV and talk about shovel ready projects and high speeds and railroad renaissance ad nausea, than to raise miles of track from restricted speed or 30 MPH running to 50-70.

The Old Heads always said seconds become minutes, and minutes become hours.

Follow the money.

While useless tidbits of information are technically facts they're still useless.

ProAmtrak falsely claimed that you provided EXPLAINATIONS instead of the "fact" posts that got the prior poster banned for his spamming.
"Amtrak sucks" is not an explaination, it is just a rant.
