Indeed, public transit is drastically lacking riders nation wide, I retired as the parking administrator for the Bay Area Rapid Transit District in Oakland, Califf. just prior to the pandemic. We had around 42,000 parking spaces distributed around various BART stations in parking garages and surface lots. Most spaces would be full by 7 AM each weekday. Total ridership was around 400,000 people then. Currently, it's around 80,000 with many parking lots almost empty all week. Cal Train in the West Bay is in a similar situation with empty trains & lots. Regards, Jim Evans |
