That is until until March 28 when, says Amtrak, all formerly daily trains will return to daily.

I'm not saying it will happen on March 28. I'm saying that Amtrak says it.

Wait, will this affect on mine? I'm booked to ride the California Zephyr 6 from Sacramento to Truckee for Tuesday 2/8

Jonathan:  Trains #5 and 6 will not originate from Chicago or Emeryville on TUESDAYS and WEDNESDAYS. 2FEB is a Tuesday, therefore no service. Suggest you try your trip Monday or Thursday. Hopefully 7 days a week service will return 28MAR.

Ok thanks, and Mike I would look at the previous post that says Eff. 1/30/22 - train 6 will originate out of Emeryville, and just realized it's from Tuesday to Saturday only. It shows cancelled for Sundays, and Mondays

The latest from the “inside” is that this will last til the end of May, but not necessarily with daily trains returning, either.
The freight roads are sick and tired of dealing w/ NRPC’s “off and on” schedules and may force them to “tri-weekly”. This is not a joke — NRPC LDT’s are in big trouble.

What is Amtrak's latest excuse?

They are in big trouble and so should Amtrak management for its mismanagement. Who is Amtrak going to be accountable to - it's Board and its Management for that matter. I am NOT convinced that EVERY LD train had to go to a 5x per week schedule from what I am hearing either. First quarter is typically a "lighter season" but how far can Amtrak drag this out........
