Yea read an article on that. People evading gates with Starbucks in their hands. Provide a service that riders don't even want to pay the highly subsidized fare.

Lawlessness is a classless pursuit....even the financially able try to skirt payments.....it's about breeding and not about status.

in addition to increasing revenue, maybe increasing fare enforcement might make riders/employees feel more comfortable and safer on public rail transit AND increase ridership...........

I noticed the following in Florida. Brightline had ticket barriers. Ticket had to be inserted in a machine in order to board. By contrast TriRail did not. An actual live person checked my ticket on my first TriRail trip from W. Palm to MetroTransfer. However on a short journey to the airport, they didn't check. Probably impossible to walk the entire train at each boarding location. So why not solve the problem with ticket barriers if not to board the train, at least to exit. Seems to work quite well in many U.K. stations. Make the barriers impassable without ticket insert. One guard would be needed at each station to facilitate exit of pass riders and report criminal activities.

I'm getting tired of this increasing politically correct kowtowing to thieves...
When I was a cop I focused on people breaking the law regardless of race, color, creed, mental problems or the color of their car including older men speeding in their bright red sports cars...

How is it "increasingly politically correct" to knowtow to thieves when, according to the article, there are increasing numbers of farebeaters who have the means to pay the fares????

This type of system works so well in New York City. Guess you missed that part of the article...
