#5 (13) Late gets later.
Author: hippieelmo

On #5 now. First delay west of Galesburg. A Tornado warning and all trains came to a stop. Sitting at Graham, had 4 freights stop within sight. Sat for about 1 1/2 hrs. Next half hour waiting to depart Denver at the BNSF crossover, waiting for 2 freights to clear. By SLC only 45 min late. Woke well east of Wells NV, 5 hrs late and a slow coal train in front, creeping all the way to Elko. Got past him. Then at 10am engineer determines they'll run out of 12 hr limit, so we stop at Beowave. Heard on radio, crew had not left Winnamucca yet. Mapquest said 1.25 hrs when they leave. At least I'm happy getting more train ride for the money. Just not the possible STEW for dinner.

UP is to blame again.  Their operations people do not care.  Under powered under maintained trains cause failures.

The tornado warning was UP's fault?

That's because the ones who say that don't pay attention on what actually happens!

And why would it be U.P.'s fault near Galesburg?  I thought #5 ran on BNSF rails in that region?

Don't confuse them with facts. It gives them a headache.
