5/20/22 Amtrak 365 Bluewater Special configuration

5/20/22 09:18 68 degrees at CN MP 202 Charlotte, Michigan  as Amtrak 365 runs by on time for Battle Creek. Today 365 is in an unusual configuration with both power units up front and business car AMERICAN VIEW on rear. Full 0:32 video:

Just curious.  An article in the current Passenger Train Journal says all the Michigan trains run with power on both ends, but the pictures in the article have those trains with power only one one end.  Does anyone happen to know which Midwest routes have power on both ends and which don't?

In Michigan, all the Wolverine Service trains and the Pere Marquette train run with one unit typically.  The Blue Water train usually runs with an engine on both ends account of the difficulty accessing the wye on CN tracks on Port Huron.  Today's Blue Water is running this configuration account of some state legislators going for a ride for some unknown reason.

I don't think the Bluewater train is on the US Connect list for anything special is it? I doubt they are ever going over the Canadian border again on this route!!!

Maybe it is not anything "special," but in its Connect report, Amtrak proposes increasing the Blue Water service from one to two daily round trips between Chicago and Port Huron.

The report also includes a proposal to extend the Wolverine route to Toronto.

Thanks.  What about the St. Louis trains and River Runners and the Quincy trains?  I see that the Illini has power on only one end and the Milwaukee trains on both.
