Metrolink Moorpark train with 2 cars??

Yesterday at LAUS saw a Moorpark train, the one that I think leaves LAUS at 3:35 pm. It had only 2 cars (one f59, coach, and control cab coach).
Is this unusual for such a long run and on peak hours? Why did it use only 2 cars??

I always remembered seeing 2 car trains (although rare) only on the Burbank trains.

Needless to say, this train was very crowded.

I always see two car trains on the Moorpark run....their ridership is down from a couple years ago.

Now, is that because of the economy or because everyone is squished on two cars?
