Prodigy's Amtrak Roster Updated
Author: dcwarner

The Amtrak Roster at http://communities.prodigy.net/trains/amtrstr.htm has been updated with its quarterly reconcilliation. Minor changes to the numbers of cars in several categories are reported, as well as a reduction in the number of P40s and E60s as they are retired.

Do you mean the F40s? The P40s are a little young to be retired. Besides, I can think of at least one TO member who has purchased an F40 since that roster was last updated.

I do mean P40s. Some are being stored. They\'re due for an overhaul (10 years old), but with the end of the Express business, not as many locos are needed, so some are being stored serviceable, but not considered active.

Yes, I know one TO member purchased an F40, but since there aren\'t any active (other than leased) F40s, that number on the roster remains at 0.

If being stored means it\'s being rebuilt at Beech Grove, that\'s not really the best term to use. The rebuild program is working on so many engines per week, Prodigy wouldn\'t be able to keep up.

I saw 833, (maybe 834,) 836, 838, 840, 842, 843 at Beech Grove a few days ago. They\'re all on an "assembly line" type of setup undergoing full rebuild. Doesn\'t necessarily mean "stored" since once they\'re rebuilt in the next few weeks, they\'ll be on the road.
