The Northwest 500

It's not a race; rather, it's a train.  Every morning Amtrak train 500 leaves Eugene at or before dawn, depending upon the season.  If all goes well, it arrives in Seattle at the noon hour.  This morning, Amtrak 500 roars through Hito at track speed.  Next stop: Oregon City.

Nice photo! Fingers crossed, I look forward to riding the Lakewood Sub from Centralia to Seattle in December. Not as scenic as the Point Defiance line but it will be new rail mileage  for yours truly....

It's also fun to occasionally outrun traffic on I-Five, which is next to the more southerly part of the Lakewood Sub,
