Forget 110 mph when 59 mph will do.. Gives the passengers more time to enjoy Penn Central railroading. Well over 3 hours late, it just keeps going and going and going...

Meanwhile the new Chicago to St. Louis to Kansas City train is averaging about an hour and 40 minutes late arriving Kansas City for the past 60 days. On a padded schedule no less. Yet this is supposedly the type of service that Gardner thinks they’re good at. Stephen, you are a complete joke. Instead of a bonus, you should’ve been shown the door. How do we get rid of these clowns and get somebody that knows how to run passenger service?

Amjoke is just a symptom of a disease called Modern North American Railroading, it’s got a mutated secondary infection called PSR that has infected most of the industry and has zombified the Carrier’s.

There is no known cure.

This, and there is no one left that knows how to run a passenger railroad. I believe the corporate buzzword is the "brain drain".

Amtrak and many commuter agencies are particularly bad as they are used as a dumping ground by political hacks for their friends. Both parties are guilty of this. Folks that never had to balance a budget or provide a quality service/product "run" the show.

It will take getting enough people (collectively, not just the railfan community) who can make a difference, to care about how Amtrak is run.  Since railfans are the only ones who really care about Amtrak other than the jobs it provides, our cause is doomed.
