Some simple questions
Author: NE933

Can someone tell me/us:

1. Did Amtrak do a 2003 travel planner for this year?

2. Are there full timetables for the NE and National that reeflect the latest changes, or are there just wallet cards?

3. Phase V paint looks dreadful on the AEM7\'s. Will they be changed as each unit goes into the shops?

4. Will Amtrak start replacing catenary on stretches that will support 150 Acelas?

5. Do you love me? (just had to throw that one in).

Thanks a mill.

1. No, Amtrak is not doing a 2003 travel planner, but some left over 2002 ones are still being handed out.

2. Only the wallet cards were changed, and I don\'t think an Northeast Timetable was ever printed last October anyway.

3. AEM-7s will probably stay in the Acela scheme as it costs less to paint. Doesn\'t look that bad in my opinion.

4. No catenary replacement yet, but more importantly is track replacement and longer stretches where the train can travel at 135mph.

5. No comment

1. No, there will be no 2003 travel planner
this year. It seems most people didn\'t use
them and they cost lots of money to print
and distribute. This is another part of
Gunn\'s cost saving measures. There are plenty
of 2002 planners at most stations.

2. Yes. There are full NE timetables (we have
them at Oakland, Jack London station). They
reflect the latest changes and are current.

5. Now that you can dance?

Send some back our way!!! I haven\'t seen them yet. What are the NE timetables doing in CA anyway?

I was in Emeryville station last fall and noticed a fresh stack Downeaster brochures, complete with coupons for activities in Portland ME, etc. Someone at Amtrak Marketing isn\'t paying close attention to how they use their scarce budget resources!
