Thanks for listing this resource. It will be helpful. But I agree that it would also be helpful to give the train name and/or origin - destination pair.

I think many of us are pretty good with the long-distance train numbers. But the regionals can another story. Particularly when the discussion is about a regional service not in your own part of the country, and for which you might therefore be less likely know the train numbers involved, but still might be interested in the discussion.

That's because you don't work for the railroad. Most railroaders don't care what Amtrak names their trains.
