I always called these things Pig-Boats.CSX had a lot of GE pig boats that ran
every where,so  that is what I call them.

Here we see in an early shot of one lone GE pulling a very long train..
Train is more or less NB,to Jacksonville, then  WB.

That has to be the Star, the Sunset didn't go that far until 93-05!

The length would be the Silver Meteor; there is no room to add a west coast section.

Never heard them called anything other than a Pooch, at least that's fit for print here...

Looks like the Silver Meteor, but that's one heck of a consist (with one locomotive). This also would have been at a time when the Meteor and Star were being split into "sections" to serve Florida destinations south of Jacksonville, FL. Large consist south of Jacksonville, FL! This is not at the junction where the trains would head west to Lakeland and Tampa is it? Auburndale is north of Winter Haven, but pretty parallel to Lakeland and Tampa........just saying........

Jacksonville was the perfect split, who knows how Amtrak did the split in Auburndale with the Star for along time, the trackage in Jacksonville was a lot easier on that compared to there!
