Passenger Trains > Lunch time wander through Sac Amtrak

Used my lunch hour to walk through the Sacramento station to see if the Capitol Corridors tracking system was working yet. It is, sort of. The reader board and strip still are in the test mode but the voice announcements for departures was working. It was announcing that 537 would arrive at 12:10pm.

Then Amtrak #6 came in with two engines instead of the normal three. It also had a different looking coach car #39952. And at the very end was the PV Silver Larite(sp) with the operation lifesaver banner.

All in all, an intersting walk.

That different looking coach was a former Santa Fe Hi-Level car. Amtrak rebuilt five of them
for the Heartland Flyer.

All the unrebuilt cars were sold.

Thanks for the info. It was truly different looking. No Superliner on the side but instead the big letters AMTRAK. Paint was different also.

If they were rebuilt for the Heartland Flyer, why is this one on the CZ?
