It has become a social welfare program, more than a transportation entity. Date: 11/30/22 10:43 Re: Penn Central lives!!! Author: Englewood Essential services are electricity, heat, clean water. With rare exception they operate 24/7,
rain, sleet or snow. At one time the above applied to passenger trains. The mail had to go through. Amtrak is non-essential adventure travel. Date: 11/30/22 11:24 Re: Penn Central lives!!! And no on-line shopping. I don't know if I agree or not but there is an argument to be made that even in the NEC Amtrak is a form of corporate welfare which also provides excellent bonuses for senior management.
