Former eee Car on the CN / IC
Author: filmteknik

I happened upon this car bringing up the rear of a northbound CN freight on the ex-IC Saturday morning.  Seen here in Homewood.

Note how the CN crew ignored the shelf coupler stencil though there were plenty of plain cars they could have put back there.

”Rainier Rails” on RYPN offered this synopsis.  I assume this is the car.

PRR 21RM sleeper #8250 Carnegie Inn(Budd, Lot #9667-024, Plan #9513, 1949) to coach #1500 to PC to SEMPTA #105 Clawsonto MARC #145 (Inn-series name reapplied). Acquired in 2011 from Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum. Assigned to Cape Cod Central (#800814).

Anyone know where it’s going?  It looks like it might be Amtrak-able.

MARC cars were compatible with Amtrak.

The car is nice but what really caught my eye is the fact the switch banners have arrows to help point the way for those that can't understand the switchpoints.

Funny you mention that because when I was very young my brother and I had Märklin HO trains (before switching to US style HO) and the switches had little lighted indicator boxes like that.  I don't know if that followed Euro practice but to one day see these right there in Homewood, I had to snap a pic and send it to my brother in FL.

MARC cars have tightlock couplers just like Amtrak uses. He was referring to the shelf couplers on the tank car. The upper shelf beats the crap out of the buffer on the passenger car.

For anyone who is interested, here is a link to a floorplan of the PRR PS21B class cars which included the Carnegie Inn:

To any of you knowledgeable about PRR passenger car assignments, what are some of the PRR and PC trains which would have had this car in their consists?

Not all tank cars have upper shelf couplers.  Some tanks do not have them because they do not car hazardous materials.
