Author: pdt Apparently a lot of these still in service in Austrailia. (??) They look at lot like Budd stainless steel cars. Anyone know the history?

I am pretty sure that both recetnt bi-levels in Chicago and San Francisco built by Nippon-Sharyo area basically built under Budd license,, and the VRE single levels built by Mafersa. VRE also got some Nippon-Sharyo bi-levels, as well.

new equipment often is cheaper, that used to be the case, with todays huge pricetags not sure.
