Passenger Trains > #11 ped strike in Grover Beach

Amtrak # 11 has hit a pedestrian in Grover just south of San Luis Obisbo. it happend just befor 5:00 pm this evening.

I guess someone is getting three days off, if they want it.  I never took them for the first ten years or so, but I finally came around and took all the time off that I could. 

I always hate it when Amtrak intentionally runs over poor innocent pedestrians.

Jaywalking and loitering are now legal in California. Do railroads count ? ;-)

I was on board that train. It was determined to have been a suicide.

The deceased deliberately jumped in front of the train at the last moment after secreting himself in some bushes, near the Grover Beach platform.

Several eyewitnesses, and the engineer gave the same account to the coroner.

Got to my hotel room in LA about 2 AM and had a 6 AM train to catch to San Diego.

I’ll never understand why suicidal people have to involve others in their final act. At the risk of sounding callous, just take a mouthful of pills and leave the rest of us out of it.
