ACE Runs Along The Wires
Author: walstib

Stockton-bound ACE 4, the 3:35 p.m. departure from San Jose, scoots alongside Caltrain's soon-to-be electrified mainline at College Park. A stop at Santa Clara is a couple of minutes ahead for ACE.

In the background, on the right, one of Caltrain's new Stadler electric trainsets sits at the maintenance facility.

Is Caltrain adding a diamond-crossover coming out of the CEMOF yard here?  I just noticed the wires above... seems like there's a diagonal section that doesn't line up with the existing track.

"Soon" will be late 2024, at the earliest, as a contractor performing equipment testing near San Jose made "a rookie mistake" (as reported in the local news) which caused several million dollars of damage.  Watch for the court battles on who while pay for the repairs.

Didn't find any description of the contractor mistake on line, did this happen recently?

Thanks!

Palo Alto Daily Post had an article on Monday, I think it was.

It was reported to the board last week, I believe.

Article not online. I’ll see if I can fish up a copy.

Thanks Walstib!  First I've heard of that story.
