Passenger Trains > monorailDate: 03/30/23 08:40 monorail Author: symph1 There've been mentions of monorails on this board. Some have doubted the practicality, or wondered how you switch tracks. Here's a new thread on the International board about this. Enjoy.

Date: 04/05/23 18:17 Re: monorail Author: DNRY122 Here in LA Metro country there's a proposal to build a "monorail" (more accurately called a monobeam) from the west side of LA to the San Fernando Valley over Sepulveda Pass (the route of the infamous 405 Freeway). My contention, shared with many local transit observers, is that monorails can be useful in short-haul, closed loop situations such as theme parks and airports, but for serious big city transit situation, conventional railways make more sense. My standard challenge for advocates of these non-standard systems is to post photos of the Chicago Transit elevated setup at the Howard St. interlocker.
