515 Leading Silver Star

Amtrak 515 leads a smokey 84 and dead 7 on the point of the northbound train 92, Silver Star, thru Aberdeen NC at 0905 4/24/23, running roughly 2 hours late.  What the sites and sounds of the video fail to convey is the unmistakable aroma of unburned diesel fuel from 84's exhaust.

Have to wonder if the 515 was not available to assist how much later the train would be running.  I see the A&R Geep is still on display.  Thanks for the video.

Number 515 is seen at the autotrain terminals many days doing switching duties in both Lorton and Sanford

In fact it was 515 that derailed in a switch in Lorton about 4 months ago that delayed the retrieval of everyone’s automobiles of 8 hours and causing the cancellation of that days autotrain to florida

They added another unit in RVR and is now leading.

Wonder if the 84 gave up the ghost?  
East Coast - engine fails, throw more engines on it and stay sort of on schedule
Midwest (or points west of Harrisburg) - engine fails, cancel train, no alternate transportation provided.

The B32 might not have RF&P cab signalling, although CSX has applied to discontinue it.
