Passenger Trains > Amtrak #6 on UP at Omaha...

5/27/2023 - due to washouts on the BNSF in southwest Nebraska, today's California Zephyrs were rerouted on the Union Pacific from Omaha to Denver.  The reroute allowed me to get a photo of Amtrak Train 6, with AMT 27 & 158 for power, crossing UP's high trestle over Papio Creek in Omaha.  A hike up a bike trail got me in position to catch the train, the trestle, and the creek.

I'm happily surprised that the cancel happy clowns running Amtrak actually ran a detour rather than cancel the whole train(s).

I'm just guessing, but I suspect recent criticism of Union Pacific for its performance problems system-wide, let alone its time-keeping regarding trains 1,2,5,and 6, might have softened its resistence to detours somewhat. Again, pure speculation on my part!

you have to wonder if the bus compaies were too busy and they said no?  arrow in denver?
