MBTA-By-The-Sea
Author: dwatry

One of the cool things about the MBTA commuter rail lines is how many of them run next to bays, rivers and swamps.  Here are a few recent shots.

1)   Here's an inbound train from Rockport in push mode with a GP-40MC for power at Manchester-By-The-Sea passing the Manchester Harbor, which still has a few working commercial fishing and lobster boats.
2)  Outbound Rockport train with an F-40PH leading at Manchester.
3)  An inbound train in push mode with a GP-40MC for power going through the Rumney Marsh (and next to the scenic landfill!!) between Lynn and Revere.  Photo taken from Revere Beach.

4)  Inbound train in Revere Beach.
5)  Another inbound train racing a motor boat at Revere Beach.  You can see the top of the Encore Casino just peeking over the hill in the distance.
6)  Inbound train coming out of Lynn crossing the drawbridge at the east end of the Rumney Marsh.

Are the factory buildings at Lynn the former General Electric plant?

Yes, but they're still GE's River Works.  The plant even has its own employees-only MBTA platform.
