Passenger Trains > NJT Trains in NWK, Roselle Park, and Union: the week of 9/11

Having heard the news on Monday 9/11 about NJT GP40PH-2 # 4109 in the CNJ colors still on "home predecessor" turf, I had to get it at least one more time on camera.

1. The 4109 leading NJT Train # 5733 into NWK Penn to pick up passengers

2. The 4109 on the point of Train # 5733 paused just as a westbound NJT Arrow III Set departs NWK Penn

3. Arrow III Cab Car # 1461 trailing on the westbound NJT

On 9/12, I went to Roselle Park and Union Station, hoping that I would see the 4109 leading but unfortunately, my luck ran out. Oh well, I still had fun.

5. As a NJT Comet Set gets ready to depart Roselle Park Station, an eastbound Conrail Shared Assets freight with mixed CSX power and a foreign goodie passes.

Newark Penn looking brighter and cleaner. Looked dark and grungy when I spent time there in the 1970's.  Fun to see the CNJ "Heritage" unit, which was kind of a "dip" scheme compared to what it was replacing. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone. NWK Penn Station might have improved with cleanliness since the 70s but it still needs work. At the track level for NJT Rail operations, it's fine.

As of the middle of last week, the 4109 isn't running on anything. It was getting shopped. The 4109 tends to spend a lot of time in the shop, unsurprinsingly.  It's supposed to be on display with the other NJT heritage color units at Hoboken Terminal on 10/1. On 9/30, as mentioned is NJT's 40th Anniversary Excursion which will run from NYP to Bay Head and then to Hoboken Terminal. From NYP-South Amboy, it will have ALP-46A # 4636 in the Ex-PRR colors. At South Amboy, the 4636 will get replaced with the two NJT F40PH-2CAT units which will power the train for the rest of the day to Bay Head, go around the loop at BH, and then come back to Hoboken. For those who want to see NJT F40PH-2CAT units running on the NJCL andthe NEC(Rahway-Kearny), this day will be your opportunity. It's very rare these days to the NJT F40s on the Newark Division.
