Passenger Trains > NYC 20th Century Lmtd Hickory Creek Obs Now on Amtrak No. 48

The obs and Pacific Home are on eastbound Amtrak Lake Shore Lmtd No. 48. If you tune into the Elkhart RailCams at about 12:30 am Friday Morning, you can observe. I wonder how many times HC has taken this route in its lifetime? I believe there are railcams at Chesterton, Indiana (west of Elkhart) and Northeast, PA. also.

 URHS "75th aniv special" of the 20th Century Ltd.   NYP to Chi and back. 
The United RR historical Society (boonton, NJ) has been running excursions NYP-ALB in Hickory creek (on amtk trains) during the summer, with this the only NYP-CHI and back trip afaik.

Seems like they have been excellent fundraisers.

Train is early (12:26)--must be the 20th Century Influence! <G> It is sitting at Elkhart right now.

Sitting on the raised floor w/ the tall windows would be worth losing some sleep with or without adult beverages.    In dutch door days, perhaps a hand rolled smoke.  

Here's a view of it at Elkhart - and yes, there were still some enjoying the conviviality  of the lounge - could not ascertain as to glass shape and contents.
