New Coaster equipment update
Author: MrChew

This is a follow up to TO member Ted Ferkenhoff's 1/31/24 post and pictures (tferk) regarding new goodies coming to San Diego.

I emailed NCTD a few days ago asking when the equipment might go into service and this is the response I received:

"Thank you for contacting North County Transit District (NCTD).

"Just recently NCTD received a new bi-level Cab Car and three (3) full-width coaches which were delivered to our Stuart Mesa Rail yard. Due to FRA requirements, all new rail equipment must be tested before being placed into revenue service. That testing includes commissioning each car, static/yard testing, NCTD mid testing activities, and dynamic testing. The new cab car and coaches are expected to go in service sometime this Fall. We’re anticipating  delivery of additional passenger coaches in the weeks to come."

4 more of the repainted Bombardier cars are held at Barstow due to mudslide at San Clemente.
