Worms and A Beach Ball on the Metro-North
Author: PC1073

Was treated to a Metro-North 40th Anniversary unit (Beach Ball) while awaiting the
Penn Central unit making it's inaugural revenue trip.  The weather was downright nasty,
but the finale was worth the journey.  All images at Metro-North's Scarborough Station.
One last post sometime in the near future with some miscellaneous trip items.
Enjoy,

Interesting, the PC unit is on the southend. Is this a regular scheduled train?

The inaugural run was on train 734 from Harmon to GCT. On that train (only) they pointed the unit south just for the occasion.

Great set of photos! Any idea how many of these special units were planned and if there are more coming?

Four planned, four done. I’ve heard that they plan a “Honoring Employees” one, we’ll see. We didn’t manage to get the New York Central while up there. So, another trip will need to be made.

Yes, you need to get the NYC unit - it is the best of the lot, perhaps the best heritage unit on any railroad - the lightning stripes are a perfect design for the unit.
