TO BrightLine orders more coaches
Author: Lackawanna484

TO meet surging demand.

Trains to go up to five cars as new Siemens coaches are delivered.

These may be the coach + bar cars ordered last year. The article is a little suspect on details, like car capacity.

These are the coaches that were ordered 2 years ago. The newer set in 2025/26 will be half Select (Premium), half Smart (Coach) - The cafe/bistro cars are slated for 2026.

So, these are real coaches. That's good to hear.

(I think BrightLine would be well advised to prepare press releases that news staff / TV people etc can just read, or copy and paste.)

Brightline needs to hire AmtrakBill to handle their news and
public relations operations. We learn more about Brightline
from him than from the Brightline people. Hey, Bill, where are you?

That news story is yet another example of one written by somebody who knows almost nothing about trains and certainly not enough to be writing a newspaper article about the subject.  Thanks to Macster for the clarification.

Not even Amtrakbill can figure all this out. But from what I understand not every train will get the extra coach. Brightline is trying to figure out how to best optimize each train frequency in using this additional equipment Some frequencies may need a couple extra coaches and some are fine with the current consist. This will be a challenge operationally getting the right train set matching the right schedule

Certainly a good problem to have

Brightline is carrying more customers from Orlando to S. Florida which impacts and stifles ridership within S. Florida

It will be interesting to see how this evolves

I've been wondering if BrightLine will restore some "short turn" trains, running Miami to West Palm Beach, and turning back. At some hours of the day, there's likely enough business to do that, and sell more longer distance tickets to Orlando on the through trains.

If would be interesting to look at BrightLine's volume between city pairs on its network, not that they would ever give out that info.
