California Zephyr and Texas Eagle Schedule Changes

Effective April 8, 2024Schedule changes will impact Texas Eagle and California Zephyr service effective April 8, as outlined below. Schedules listed on Amtrak.com have been updated to reflect these changes.California Zephyr Trains 5 and 6

• Train 6, which normally operates between Emeryville and Chicago, will depart Emeryville 45 minutes earlier, arriving in Denver earlier at 6:27 pm and departing at 6:59 pm.
• Train 5, which normally operates between Chicago and Emeryville, will arrive in Denver later at 7:56 am, departing at 8:46 am and arriving in Emeryville later at 4:57 pm.

Texas Eagle Trains 21/421 and 22/422

• Train 21/421, which normally operates between Chicago to Los Angeles, will depart Chicago 3 minutes earlier at 1:52 pm, arrive in St. Louis earlier at 7:07 pm, departing at 7:42 pm, arrive in Dallas 10 minutes later at 11:40 am, departing at noon and arriving in San Antonio at 10:16 pm.
• Train 22/422, which normally operates between Los Angeles to Chicago, depart San Antonio 12 minutes earlier at 6:48 am, arriving in Dallas 2 minutes earlier at 3:18 pm, departing at 3:38 pm, arriving in St. Louis later at 7:30 am, departing at 8:10 am and arriving in Chicago 2 minutes later at 1:44 pm.

they must expect train 6 to arr in denver earlier, because the time alloted is not enough to do everything

Almost sounds like the UP is planning some track work along the route

This is a permanent change isn't it? Not temporary?

well if you go on amtrak site and try n get tickets anywhere from april 8th to well into september it says 6 departs emeryville at 8:25am

So from what I can tell, the old schedule had the CA Zephyr leaving Emeryville as Train #6 at 9:10 am. The "revised" or "new" schedule has it departing at 8:25 am. So appears these are permanent changes of it is lasting from April to September. Amtrak doesn't have printed schedules any more so this is all fun stuff to try and piece together when presented in this format. 

from what rail dawg on others have said, UP consolidates trains e/b at sparks, perhaps this will put it front of a monster train that gets created, reducing #6 delays across nevada, that have been going on for 5 years now?
