Amtrak's "Open Door Policy"?
Author: Korigaoka1811

December 27, 2023, at Tri-Rail's Boynton Beach Station.

Interesting to me anyway, I notice now that this northbound Silver Service train (I don't know if it is the Star or Meteor) was hi-balling north at about 65 - 70 mph with its back door open.  Is there a baggage handler in there enjoying the view?

J.

If the weather’s good, I would pay extra for a rear facing seat in that car. I’ll even bring my own lawn chair.

Best part about working for BNSF is on a nice day running with my window open!

Good way to fill the car with dust and dirt.

And annoy other pax with the wind blast along with it. Had that trouble riding a narrow gauge a few years back not fun for others at all.

I agree with you, there's nothing like riding down the tracks in open air. Yes there's a bit of dust and smell of brakes from time to time but on a nice day what a way to travel! My wife enjoys it just as much or more than me.

There is no air conditioning in the baggage cars.

I saw the Cardinal northbound out of Cincinnati a few years back with the side door of the baggage car open. Suitcases were clearly visible just inside the car

Why the bag car on the rear? I thought they were always on the head end?
