A Very Urban Environment
Author: thebluecomet

Some Sunday afternoon action on both sides of the Newark Penn Station, Newark, NJ.

Train 189 with the 600 leading and the 623 on the rear.

1. Passing Dock tower with the train about to cross the massive Passaic River draw bridges.

2.  The 623 passing some of the new office towers in the City of Newark.

3.  Panning back significantly finds the 623 about to enter the Newar Penn Station.

The name proudly emblazoned over Raymond Blvd.

There are endless NJ Transit trains to shoot here.

On the south side of the station and along McCarter Highway which runs parallel to the tracks.

667 is on train 97.

NJT 4605 ducks under the PATH lead to their storage yard tracks.

The murals were done several years ago in an effort to eliminate the graffiti plaguing the stone and brick walls.  Without observing things regularly, I can say there seems to have been little to no damage or graffiti done to any of the murals.  Though time and weather have worn them a bit, the local thugs apparently have left them alone.

Nice stuff, don't think I've seen the outside of Newark Penn Station before.  I remember that there was so much to see when I rode through there once about 10 years ago.
