Passenger Trains > Former Penn Central Geeps still running hard

Below are three former Penn Central GP40's rebuilt for NJ Transit passenger service.  All from the Atlantic City Rail Line today.

1.  Train 4677 heading for Atlantic City at Hammonton, NJ.  4213 formerly PC 3274.

2.  Train 4678 enroute to Philadelphia passing the former PRSL tower at Winslow Jct, NJ.  4204 formerly PC 3262.

3.  Train 4679 passing the former PRSL, nee-PRR, nee-West Jersey & Seashore station at Berlin, NJ.  Station built circa.1856.  4214 formerly PC 3265.

Excellent images !!!

All nice photos but that last one of the Berlin Station is even more interesting with that old telephone sign on the station building.  It brings back good memories.

That switch leads to what was the line to Ocean City and Cape May.  

Nice capture. Didn't realize these were former PC Geeps. And for some reason I thought these units were retired. Guess they have just been banished to South Jersey!

Side note - Winslow Junction was quite the "junction" back in the day. I read an engineering article on it earlier this year, and was surprised on how intricate this whole complex was. I don't think it was as "busy" as what the engineering drawings would lead one to believe, even "back in the day." But quite interesting to say the least! Be nice to see even seasonal service restored for shore passenger traffic to/from Philly and Ocean City/Cape May - or even on a regular basis. Add to wish list. The restoration of [heavy rail] passenger service from Philly to Vineland via Glassboro often becomes a political football.....
