The fire involves a cold storage warehouse that spread into a brush fire Level 3 evacuations ( go now)are in place, im sure this will effect 28 into pasco tonight

"Looks" like the [Baby] Empire Builders - train #27 and #28 - are running normally, unless the reporting data is off. Train #8 (21) left 1 minute late out of Spokane, WA. Tonight's departure of the Empire Builder out of Portland, April 22, have coach seats available, but bedrooms sold out (between Portland and Spokane at least). Very telling....Even with three sleepers on the Empire Builder (when joined up with Seattle section at Spokane), this train is hitting sold out status in April already upon departure from Western Terminals. Nothing new here! 

Word from the inside is that the Seattle section will be getting back its second coach in May and there's even talk about adding back the second sleeper to the Portland section as well. 27/28 haven't ran with 5 cars in I don't know how long.

Portland already has two coaches - that's it's normal consist.  But before COVID, in season I'd see two sleepers, making it a 5-car train.

Yes, thank you. I meant the second sleeper being added back, not second coach. Either way, that appears to be the tentative plan. Don't hold your breath just yet.
