Passenger Trains > Amtrak Heritage P42DC #145 solos at New London - 4/22/24Date: 04/24/24 03:48 Amtrak Heritage P42DC #145 solos at New London - 4/22/24 Author: JPB Apologies for the attached low light, fuzzy screen captures from the excellent New London live cam - unfortunately night time is when the interesting things happen on the ex-New Haven Shoreline. In the bright light of day, a steady diet of "same old, same old" Acelas, Regionals, and CDoT M8s pass the live cam. But at night the P&W manifests and stone trains come out along with Amtrak light power moves, rail-grinding, ballast trains, Sperry Doodlebugs, and other MoW activities.
Late on Monday night 4/22/24, after a 45 car P&W loaded stone train went south behind 3 G&W orange engines, a lone Amtrak P42, heritage unit #145 in 40th anniversary Phase III livery passes the cam slowly heading north.at 2303 4/22//24. A little over 2 hours later, #145 re-appears heading houth after having been turned on the wye at Groton CT presumablly. But this time #145 is towing a pair of switchers and a freshly repainted GP38-3 #740. Anyone know the mission? Very nice photos. No apologies necessary. Date: 04/25/24 18:37 Re: Amtrak Heritage P42DC #145 solos at New London - 4/22/24 Author: twropr Am thinking that 145 went to Pine Orchard to pick up engines used in switching stone cars.
