Disrespect? X slams Amtrak after food list leaves off New Haven pizza

NEW HAVEN, Conn.  — Social media is slamming an Amtrak post as “obscene” and insulting after its “Tastes of the Northeast Regional” graphic left off New Haven pizza.

“Who else thinks the Pizza Capital of the US is getting disrespected here?” Connecticut’s tourism campaign, "Make It Here," wrote in response.

Amtrak posted the graphic on Wednesday afternoon with the seemingly innocent caption of “it’s not about the destination, it’s about the food stops you made along the way,” followed by pizza, crab, hot dog and lobster emojis.

What made the list? Oysters in Richmond, Virginia, along with a half-smoke hot dog in Washington, D.C. Other items include snowballs in Baltimore, steamed blue crab (Wilmington, Delaware), Philadelphia cheesesteak, New York City Pizza, calamari (Providence, Rhode Island) and boiled lobster in Boston.

The comments on the X post were filled with users upset that New Haven apizza was snubbed from the list — and that Connecticut overall was skipped.

“Excuse me, but I think you forgot something…hint, it’s the best pizza city in the United States and in the one state on the corridor you seem to have neglected ;)” one user wrote.

The Northeast Regional line makes a handful of stops in Connecticut, including two in New Haven. Other stations served by the line are in Mystic, New London, Old Saybrook, Windsor Locks, Windsor, Hartford, Berlin, Meriden, Wallingford, New Haven, Bridgeport and Stamford.

“Connecticut in shambles,” a commenter wrote.

“I’m about to cancel the Connecticut portion of the NEC,” another said in a repost. “Excuse me you missed New Haven.”

Amtrak posted a quasi apology on Friday, writing “turns out New Haven is also known for its (a)pizza. who knew??”

Make It Here was quick to respond, adding, “Who knew? We did. That’s why New Haven is the Pizza Capital of the Nation…not New York or New Jersey or whatever they call that casserole over in Chicago and Detroit.”

It wasn’t the only city that users were upset about. Amtrak responded to a comment about New Jersey cannoli and New York City cheesecake with “Thanks for your feedback.”

Ok yeah this is stupid.
But it was also stupid for them to completely skip over CT.

"its about the food stops along the way"......
Because you will never get any of that food on amtrak.

Real pizza lovers know New Haven is NOT the pizza capital, no matter how good the locals think it is...

And for Bawlmer, snowballs should be replaced with crabcakes.

Same thing can be said of Chicago style pizza too. The best pizza is the one in front of you.
