Passenger Trains > Super Late Tr 11(25)

What happened to train 11 of the 25th? It’s running almost 12 hrs late at at Redding. Tr 14(25) is over 5 hrs late at Chemult.

Two posts on same train. Freight pulled out a wrong end drawbar just south of Dunsmuir. Eventually helper locomotives and a carmen crew were able to chain the Car and move it into the clear, then the checkers game of getting both Amtraks past the site and then re-crew both Amtraks.

1:11 AM 11(25) ARRIVED TO DUN AT 1256AM AND WILL BE HOLDING AT THE STATION DUE TO FREIGHT INTERFERENCE. MPDRV-24 WENT INTO A UDE AHEAD AT MP307 AROUND 1205AM-PT AND DISCOVERED A WRONG END DRAWBAR. BAY DUTY OFFICER ADVISED. WILL UPDATE.
 

Looks to be an overnight run down the coast slated for a 5:00am arrival into LA. Expect 14 to be delayed in the morning due to the late inbound equipment, unless they can manage to figure out how to use a Sunset Limited consist or the spare Southwest Chief consist since A4 (26) isn't running tonight to my understanding due to the BNSF derailment in Arizona. They have swapped out a trainset when 11 has been very late before. But that was in the old days when Amtrak cared more.

The Utterly Pathetic strikes again............

This was UPs fault this time. 11 was doing great until it hit the problem area in Dunsmuir. Then it just horribly lost more time after that. Losing an additional 4 hours between there and Los Angeles. It took nearly 5 hours just to go from SLO-Santa Barbara. Was showing a 5:00am arrival, then 7:30am, then 8:30am... I stopped counting when it said nearly 1:00pm arrival.

Pardon my ignorance, what is a wrong end drawbar?

The drawbar on the front end of the car, towards the power, so they can't pull the car to the nearest siding and set it out.  Car has to be pulled by a chain to the next siding.
