Some trains really do depart from Track 29…

...but in 2022, you can't get a shoeshine before you leave.  (Apologies to the original "Chattanooga Choo Choo lyrics.). We're not in NYP, but rather in Kansas City. No train service available to Chattanooga.

The lack of a shoe shine boy wasn't that big a deal, since I was wearing athletic shoes at the time.

Well now I've never been to the Kansas City station but I'd wager a guess there's not 30 tracks there.

The track that is KC is track 30, usually  is used by trains 3/4, Southwest Chief,  There are also stub tracks 27 and 28.  All These tracks follow the KC Union Station original track naming convention.

At the Hammond/Whiting (IN) station, there was a provision for a second track, which was never installed. The signs on the station platform read Track 0 and Track 1. I'm not sure if that is still the case. Track 0 would have been the track closest to the station.

Updated/corrected information welcome.
