Amtrak GP38-3 745

Today in Louisville Ky. I caught a Paducah & Louisville transfer job to CSX's yard. In tow was a nice looking Amtrak GP38-3. I suppose rebuilt in Paducah.

Hey, the way Amtrak is running these days, with all the regular locomotives breaking down, this engine might be used on the head of some of their passenger trains, with the regular engine behind for HEP.  That's a great looking engine, thanks for sharing the photo with all of us.

Maybe Amtrak needs to get about 200 more Geep units. and put them on all trains.
With the new Siemens Units. And even with the P40/42 Units.
The Geep Units might keep the trains on time

I'm no locomotive expert but I did sleep in my comfortable bed this morning . . . I'm not sure they are geared for passenger speeds. I do however like the idea of rebuilding frieght units with a good track records for Amtrak!

Am curious to find out how many of these locomotives are in the contract, and where they will be assigned.

Nice picture and a nice-looking locomotive.  This may be the only way we get Amtrak in Louisville.
